Lately I have not been so active on deviantart... I always seem to find myself either working on side projects or helping out all the staff at Halocommunity.com. Halo Community is basically exactly what it sounds like, a community for Halo players. But unlike most video game community sites, they are more relaxed and just wanna have a good time. So I am going to try my best to start uploading things that I have been doing for them that way I am not completely m.i.a. on deviantart. Adios!

Check em out: www.halocommunity.com --- And tell them HORRENDOUS NOOB sent you.

Well... it's official... I think I am addicted to drawing this new character Mr. Robo. I really can't explain why. I developed this character before college and continue to keep drawing him. I have several more drawn pictures of Mr. Robo... just haven't had time to color them. But I have now added a Mr. Robo folder to make it easier to view my addiction. At least I am drawing again, even if it is the same damn robot.

Other than Mr. Robo though... I am still trying to finish the wooden sign with all of the different cities and miles to each location. Probably won't finish it anytime soon though. I also plan on adding another few clear coats on the video game arcade... make it shine a little bit more. Hmm... short journal entry but at least I am keeping myself busy waiting for this slow friday workday to be over. ADIOS!

Well, as you can see I finally got some inspiration and decided to finish the Orange Skyline. These past few weeks after building the arcade machine I have been so burnt out on anything creative other than a few paper craft things.

I still have 2 or 3 unfinished projects on the back burner so maybe this streak of inspiration and drive will help me finish up another one. The oldest is a sign project where carved wooden signs are pointing to cities around the world... I have seriously been working on this thing for around 3 years... well... no exactly working... started on it like 3 years ago and stopped.

Well... I know this is a short journal but hopefully this is enough for now... gotta get back to work.

So if you haven't noticed... the arcade machine is finished and pictures are up. I must say this is one of the most fun projects I have ever done. Building it took about 2 weeks and painting it took about 2 weeks. It weighs a ton but is so much fun to play. Pac Man, Contra 3, and NBA Jam have definitely been everyones favorites to play on it so far.

This project started with me looking on ebay for an arcade machine... you can't find a good one for under $2000. So I decided to build my own. 2 weeks and $250 later I am finished. The Arcade Plays any Super or Regular Nintendo game and has a 4 speaker surround sound system in it. I still need such games as Super Mario Kart, Super Metroid, Zelda, Mega Man X, and a few others...

This project really wasn't that hard so if anyone has any questions on the steps I went through to complete this thing just ask. As for future projects I think I am going to revisit an old sign project I started about a year ago and see if I can't finish it. THANKS FOR READING!

Sooo... I finally got caught up with work and had time to put some new stuff up on here.

I have added all of my might muggs i have painted (i am addicted to the little shits) except for Vile from Mega Man... he is not done yet and probably won't be for a while... he is on the back burner behind a bigger project.

I might be a little over my head, but I am attempting to build my own Arcade Game Machine!!! after months of getting pissed because everyone wants like $1500 for a working arcade machine... I decided I will make that crap on my own... the frame and internal drawers are all done and it is half way sanded. I am mounting an old tube TV inside along with two joysticks and a system that will play Regular Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and Genesis games. Here is where you can help... I need two things. #1 Ideas for the side - I was thinking 8 bit and 16 bit character montage... #2 What games should I add in side the holder - Contra, Street Fighter 2, Mario kart, Mario, NBA Jam... not sure... need some help on some awesome classics.

I also Included pictures of my old Vega Mask made out of clay and another weird mask that scares me.

OH! and the gundam helmet made out of duct tape and card board is finally up too along with my lovely model... it fits tight but makes up for it by looking awesome! ahahaaha. But yea, thats the update for now... I hope you guys enjoy and

Second journal entry and I must say, I still love DeviantArt. I have been apart of a lot of art communities but this one is by far the most friendly. Unfortunately I have met a few people on here that... well... are dicks.

Everyone is a critic... that is so true. But recently I have discovered that many artists that give themselves the title of "artist" also immediately think of themselves as a professional. And by being a professional - you apparently get to make decisions, like deciding what art is. I say this because one of my pieces (x biff turret) was recently denied from a video game group (video-game-fans) because it "wasn't art". A little background information, this piece is a massively photoshopped image that I photographed from the game Halo: Reach. But when I asked why it wasn't accepted I was give this response, "It is an edited photo, those shouldn't even be allowed on DeviantArt". I understand him not wanting a type of art in his group... but apparently unless you draw it by hand from scratch... it isn't art.

Apparently, Photoshop isn't art, even though it has it's own section on DeviantArt... If you didn't read my bio, I am an Art Director and Director of Product Development for an advertising agency called The Palladian Group who specializes in Graphic Design. I am an artist... I have several degrees that claim I am an artist... As a student studying Graphic Design, I had several classes devoted to Photoshop and image editing / manipulation... now, I edit / manipulate images every day as a professional graphic designer. I think you know what I am hinting at here. I didn't go to school for 6 years and get 2 degrees for someone to tell me my art isn't art.

With that said, coming from a real professional... anything you do to express your feelings is art whether it be paint, sculpture, cosplay, music, or even throwing up and taking a picture of it... it is all art. The ignorance of people baffles me sometimes. No one has the authority to say something isn't art... they might not like it... but trust me, someone will.

I hope everyone had happy holidays and a good start to 2011... I am being honored by The University of South Carolina Upstate for the sign chair (that is already on here) and a photo manipulation called orange twist (which will be up soon) so my year has started off great, hope yours is too.

Welp... first journal entry ever on deviantart (PUMPED!)... possibly the first journal entry in my life (this is josh). Might as well kick it off with explaining the projects that are currently underway.

The first project is a photoshop design I have been working on at work (I know, shouldn't I be working?) during any spare time. I think I will call it Orange City Scape... it is basically a crazy city scape of every major landmark building put into a spiral of orange and black textures... trust me, it will make more sense when you see it. The only problem is that I am running out of buildings! GOOGLE TIME!!! I will admit that I have not worked on it much lately... I have been goofing around on www.toxel.com and www.geekologie.com too much. But I think it will be finished and put up on here to share in about 2 weeks... or 7 weeks depending on my procrastination (did i spell that right? too lazy to google, onward!).

The second project is just awesome... like make me giggle awesome... totally started making it on accident. I like to watch football (ALABAMA!) like any other guy. But last week during the game my brother (Jarod-other DESINOOB) gave me a huge cardboard box and a ton of duct tape... so naturally I started building a warrior helmet while watching the game. By the end of the game I had created a helmet that kinda resembled a gundam helmet... you know... those big cartoon robots that blow each other up. Well I liked it so much that I decided to put a heavy gloss paint on it and paint it... soooooo... hopefully within the next few days I can throw that sucker up here and then you can beg me to make the rest of the costume.

Wow... first journal entry done already?... I guess I need to thank daydreamer_girl and Rishnea from gaiaonline.com for pushing me into writing journals and helping me get used to this whole deviantart thing and random llamas... I will continue to write journals at least 2 a week? sounds good? AWESOME!
